⭐️Azure Local (Rebranding of Azure Stack HCI)⭐️

⭐️Azure Local (Rebranding of Azure Stack HCI)⭐️

Azure Stack HCI is now a part of Azure Local. Microsoft has renamed Azure Stack HCI to Azure Local to communicate a single brand that unifies the entire distributed infrastructure portfolio

🧐How does this affect your existing deployments?

If you're currently using Azure Stack HCI today or previously deployed Azure Stack HCI in your organizations, you can continue to use the service without interruption. All existing deployments, configurations, and integrations continue to function as they do today without any action from you.

All features and capabilities are still available in the product. Pricing, licensing, service-level agreements etc.

💡Here are some of the new features in preview for Azure Local 2411:

  • Migration from VMware (Preview): This feature allows for seamless migration from VMware environments to Azure Local
  • Low-Spec Hardware Options: Azure Local now supports a wider range of hardware, including low-spec options, making it more accessible for various use cases
  • Disconnected Operations (Preview): This feature enables Azure Local to operate in environments with limited or no internet connectivity, ensuring continuous operation
  • Network Security Groups (Preview): Enhanced security with network security groups to better manage and control network traffic
  • Trusted Launch (Preview): Provides advanced security features to protect virtual machines from boot-level malware and other threats

These features are designed to enhance the flexibility, security, and performance of Azure Local, making it a robust solution

In my opinion Microsoft has done a good job renaming the product as it has been a little bit of a rollercoaster trip, but i'm looking forward to dive into the new and improved features of Azure Local, especially The Disconnected Operations feature (Preview) https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-local/manage/disconnected-operations-overview, as well as the Azure Migrate from VMware to Azure Local (Preview) https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-local/migrate/migration-azure-migrate-vmware-overview
